Costa Blanca Schools
There are basically three options:
The choice of education with the Costa Blanca schools is a matter of personal taste whether you choose an International education or the Spanish State system. If your children are over the age of eight and not fluent in Spanish then it is recommended that you choose an international or bilingual school, as at this age children often struggle to learn the language quickly, and will miss out on a lot of school work while they are catching up. If they are under eight, then a Spanish school (state or private) is probably the best option because that will give them the best chance of integrating fully into Spanish life. In Spain, education is compulsory for all children between the ages of 6 and 16. For information on finding the right Costa Blanca school, please click here to read an article from the thinkspain.com website. There are a number of International schools on the Costa Blanca, some offer the British GCSE and A-Level examinations, the American High School Diploma and college entrance examinations (for example ACT, SAT, achievement tests and AP exams), the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Spanish Bachillerato. Applications to private schools and international schools should be made as far in advance as possible as many of these schools have waiting lists. To enrol at an International School, private or state school, contact the school directly. Procedures for enrolment at a state school will vary from one region to another.
